A little delayed... But...
BRIAR IS HERE!!
Finally!
I started having contractions Thursday the 15th around 3pm at my doctor's appointment.
I was hooked up to the non-stress test and they saw I was having some TINY contractions.
About 10 minutes later they turned into some bigger contractions.
Soon enough I was having decent strength contractions only 2 minutes apart.
BUT, nothing else was going on dilation wise. So we got groceries and went home.
We ended up going to the hospital LATE that night and late the night after.
No luck.
I was contracting but not dilating the first night, and the second night I was at 2cm but not progressing.
We ended up going again EARLY Saturday(the 17th) morning, around 4am?
I had taken the Ambien they gave me the night before and it made me sick.
So when we got in that morning and found out I was still at 2cm, they had us do our "walk".
I ended up puking my guts out again like 40 minutes into the walk.
Told them I couldn't walk anymore and they asked if I wanted them to check me again.
They did, and I was at 3-4cm! So at 5:30a I was admitted and they kept me!!
Guy had plans and we figured I'd be working on it for a good 7+ hours since it was my first kid and it had taken me so long to get where I was.
So he left to go and do that and mum and nan came in.
Not long after I ended up texting him to tell him I was at 5cm and 90% effaced, so he had to get his butt back NOW! XD
They put my IV in, got my antibiotics going (was positive for strep b, harmless to me, but could have made Briar sick if she got it, 1 in 200,000 chance but I still opted for the meds to make sure) and they gave me a dose of Staydol (spelling). It's a mild pain killer, I did NOT want an epidural!
He came back and shortly after I threw up again. Luckily I felt it coming and told mum "I need my bucket". Lol.
After I puked they checked me again and I had jumped to 7cm!
A few contractions later I felt my water break!!
This was the fun bit, they tried getting me to walk around or get on the exercise ball to try and dilate more.
I told Guy "For all you know, I'm at 10cm already!" because there was NO way I was going to get out of that bed and start walking around!
The doctor checked me again and I WAS at 10cm! Apparently puking and my water breaking help jump me up QUICKLY.
So I was FINALLY given the go ahead to push!
I think that was the hardest part, having contractions like that and NOT being able to push. I wanted to SO badly. >_<
We started the whole pushing and breathing process, and I guess they use mineral oil to help massage and stretch, which works apparently!
A whole 20 minutes later, at 12:24pm, Briar was born!!
They took her to clean her up and get all their measurements and of course my placenta decided it would be difficult.
So after fighting to get the afterbirth taken care of, I bled!
Let me tell you, OUCH!
You do NOT want someone "massaging" your uterus and mashing on your guts after delivering a baby! >_<
It was so bad that Nan had to leave the room.
I got SO lucky with the whole process though.
It was quick, especially for a first time, and I didn't need stitches!
Tore, but not badly enough for stitches.
About an hour later Briar was getting her first meal/lunch and mommy was ordering her's.
She was born 8 pounds 10 ounces, and 21.5 inches!
We got moved out of the delivery room and into a room not long after.
Where we basically sat around for the weekend.
We had a few visitors and LOTS of nurse intrusions.
Daddy came and slept over Saturday and Sunday nights, while taking care of the dogs during the days.
We got out of the hospital Monday afternoon (the 19th) with both of us getting A's on our tests/vitals/etc.
We stopped and went out to our first family meal at the Great Wall Buffet.
Then HOME!
So she's now a week and a half old and we've been home for 10 days now.
And only one really bumpy time!
She sleeps pretty well, only a few diaper changes/meals in the middle of the night.
And she's SO mellow/quiet/calm!
She's such a doll! We got a cutie pie on our hands.
It hasn't been all that eventful really.
Pretty quiet and calm around here.
She had her check up/visit at the hospital Thursday (22nd) where she got the thumbs up.
She weighed in at 8 pounds 2 ounces, meaning she gained 2 ounces in the couple of days since leaving the hospital.
(She weighed 8 pounds even when we left the hospital, amazing how much weight they lose after birth, huh?)
And we've got her first doctor's appointment (tomorrow/Thursday) and mommy's 6 week check up all scheduled.
She's even had a few baths at home and let me tell you.... She does NOT like baths so far!
I think that's it for now!
(Pics to come!!)

Granted, she did the gryphon as a kiri/gift, but wow.
I don't want to have to spend $40 as a starting bid to get the original...

I'm good. I was just going in the street with towel on my head and swimming glasses...
